Don't panic! It might be something minor. 

• Check the Power: Ensure that the main power switch supplying your autogate control panel is turned on and that the electrical breaker (DB box) hasn't tripped.

• Check the Remote Battery: If the indicator light on your remote is dim or won't light up, replace the battery immediately.

• Check Range / Interference: If the remote only works when you are standing right next to the gate, the receiver antenna inside the control box may be loose or blocked.

• Locate the Manual Release: Every automated gate system features a manual release mechanism.

• Disengage the Motor: Insert your specialised manual release key into the lock on the motor housing /electrical lock, turn it, and manually push the gate open.
  Safety Tip: Always turn off the main power supply to the motor before attempting a manual release.

• Do NOT Force or Pry the Gate Open
  Avoid using crowbars, hammers, or forcing the gate open manually. Doing so will strip the internal gears of the motor, bend the mechanical arm or track, and result in a much more expensive repair bill.

• Check for a Spare Key First
  Think back to when the autogate was first installed. Installers usually provide a set of two keys. Check your keyholder, utility drawer, or storage box to see if the spare is tucked away safely.

• Clear Track Obstructions: For sliding gates, check the bottom track for leaves, stones, mud, or debris that block the wheels.

• Check Safety Photocells: Inspect the safety sensor lenses (photocells) facing each other near the gate pillars. Dust, spiderwebs, heavy rain, or misalignment can block the infrared beam, causing the gate to reverse automatically for safety. Wipe them clean with a soft cloth.

• Mechanical Jam: The gate might be jammed against a stopper or the physical lock. Check if anything is physically blocking the path.

• Gear Engagement: Ensure the motor is fully locked back into automatic mode (if it was recently manually released). If the internal gears are stripped due to wear and tear, contact a professional technician for a replacement.

• Keep Tracks Clean: Regularly sweep away dirt, leaves, and stagnant water from sliding gate tracks.

• Avoid Water Jet Cleaning: Never spray high-pressure water directly onto the motor control box or safety sensors, as water ingress can damage the circuit board.

• Schedule Annual Servicing: For landed residential properties, book a professional service check at least once a year. For high-traffic commercial buildings and condominiums, service every 3 to 6 months to ensure smooth, intensive-use operation.
